Dr. Mohammad Shameem Al Mamun is working as Tea Entomologist at Bangladesh Tea Research Institute (BTRI) since 2007. In addition, He is working as Project Director of Northern Bangladesh Project, Bangladesh Tea Board under Ministry of Commerce. The career objective is to develop as a good researcher as well as a good tea scientist with moral and ethics from where he will have the scope to utilize his potentiality and skills and to do something innovative. He completed his Bachelor of Agriculture (Hons.) and Master of Science in Entomology from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. He also completed Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Tea Plantation Management with a Colombo Plan Scholarship from Kothari Agricultural Management Centre, Tamil Nadu, India. He received a PhD degree with a dissertation on 'IPM of Red Spider Mite in Tea' from Shahjalal University of Science & Technology, Sylhet. Later, he completed a higher training on 'Pollution free tea production technology' with a ChinaAid Scholarship from Zhangzhou College of Science & Technology, Fujian, China. 


Planning, formulating, conducting and guiding entomological researches for tea are the key responsibility of his profession. Bio-ecology of pests, Crop loss assessment, Bioassay and resistance of pests, Screening of pesticides for tea, Integrated Pest Management in tea, Bio-pesticides & Bi-control as IPM component and Pesticide residue in tea are the specialized field of research works. He attended many of the national and internal seminars, conferences, workshops and symposium in home and abroad. He has published 90 articles in peer reviewed journals, proceedings, circular/booklets, newspapers & books etc.
