Professional Experiences

Dr. Mamun has about 13+ years of professional experiences in entomological researches for tea at Bangladesh Tea Research Institute (BTRI). Before joining at Bangladesh Tea Research Institute, He worked as Trainer in a local NGO and Teacher in an English Medium School (January 2005 to July 2007). He joined as Scientific Officer (Entomology) at Bangladesh Tea Research Institute (BTRI) in 30 July 2007. After that, He is promoted as Senior Scientific Officer (Entomology) in 20 March 2013. Now He is working at Bangladesh Tea Board, Regional Office, Panchagarh as Senior Scientific Officer & Project Director since 13 March 2017.

  • Planning, formulating, guiding and conducting entomological researches for tea.
  • Pesticide residue detection and analysis of made tea is specialized field of work.
  • Conducting laboratory and field trial related to pest management in tea.
  • Analyzing nematodes from the nursery soils of the tea estates.
  • Rendering all sorts of advisory services on the problems arising out of pests of tea.
  • Resource person of MTC, Project Development Unit, Bangladesh Tea Board.

He has experiences in successfully conducting research project entitled “Determination of residue level of pesticides at different plucking intervals after spraying” as Co Principal Investigator (C0-PI) during 2007-2010 . 

Successfully conducted BTRI-BARC core research project entitled “Studies and Development of IPM strategies of plant parasitic nematodes in tea” as Co Principal Investigator (Co-PI) during 2014-2017.

Successfully conducting USAID funded BARC NATP Phase-2 sub project under CRG entitled “Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approaches to major pests of tea for sustainable tea production” as Principal Investigator (PI) during 2017-2018.

Successfully conducting ODA Revolving funded Tea Board project under Ministry of Commerce entitled “Extension of Small Holding Tea Cultivation in Northern Bangladesh” as Project Director” (PD) during 2017-2021.

His role in the tea industry & small holding in modern pest management is undeniable. His main field of work is to innovate sustainable technology and use it in the field of tea pest management in Bangladesh. He imparts the applied aspects and techniques of pest management to the tea gardens through garden inspections, workshops, seminars, symposiums. The tea gardens are also getting the benefits.
